应能源学院刘大锰教授和蔡益栋教授邀请,中国工程院外籍院士Ranjith P.G将来我校进行学术交流,并做学术报告。Ranjith P.G院士是国际著名岩石力学与能源工程专家、中国工程院外籍院士、澳大利亚技术科学与工程院院士、莫纳什大学地质力学系教授,研究领域涵盖二氧化碳地质封存、非常规油气地质与开发、矿山地质和岩土力学等,引领了能源领域的岩石力学创新发展以及非常规地质能源开发和二氧化碳地质封存领域的科技进步。在以上研究领域,发表学术论文400余篇,H指数为87,是国际SCI刊物Geomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources 创刊主编。 题目:Breaking Barriers in Geothermal Energy: Sustainable Solutions for the Future 时间:2024年12月13日(周五)上午9:30 地点:测试楼217 报告摘要: Geothermal energy holds immense potential as a sustainable, renewable resource to address the global energy crisis and combat climate change. This talk explores the challenges and innovations defining the future of geothermal energy, with a special focus on Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). It begins with an overview of global energy demands and the limitations of conventional resources, then transitions to advanced stimulation techniques, such as thermal, CO2, and foam-based methods, that are revolutionizing geothermal energy extraction. Drawing from case studies in Australia, including the landmark Innamincka Deeps project, the presentation examines both successes and obstacles in geothermal deployment. Insights from Monash University's Deep Earth Energy Laboratory highlight breakthroughs in efficiency, resource recovery, and carbon sequestration.
